Welcome to Matt Fleeger

Matt Fleeger has set himself apart from many of today's executives by facing challenges in a variety of industries. He currently serves Gulf Coast Western, a domestic oil and natural gas company that his father founded in 1970, as CEO and President, but he gained significant business experience in other industries before taking the position.

Matthew H Fleeger's Early Executive Experiences

After graduating from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelors of Arts in Business, Matt H Fleeger began working in the oil and gas industry. He took executive positions with several businesses between 1986 and 1993. During that time, he even spent a brief period working for Gulf Coast Western.

Working as an executive for many companies contributed to Matt Fleegers understanding of finance, marketing, and business acquisitions. In 1993 he decided to apply this knowledge to the medical waste management industry by founding his own company.

Matt Fleeger Leaves the Oil and Gas Industry to Found MedSolutions, Inc

When Matthew Fleeger decided to found MedSolutions, Inc, he had a firm background in the leadership and management skills that he would need to make the company successful, but starting any organization creates unforeseen challenges that only a true leader can resolve. Over the next 14 years, Fleeger used acquisitions, financing, and other business tactics to develop MedSolutions, Inc into one of the region’s leading medical waste management companies.

MedSolutions even drew the attention of the medical waste management industry's leader, Stericycle. Recognizing that he had built the company into a success, Matthew Fleeger decided that it was time to sell MedSolutions, Inc and move on to new challenges. He negotiated the sale of his company to Stericycle for about $59 million.

Matthew H Fleeger's Tanning Industry Interests

While working in the medical waste management and oil and gas industries, Matthew H Fleeger also had interests in the tanning industry. He primarily divided his attention between two companies that have since become very successful: Palm Beach Tan and Mystic Tan.

Palm Beach Tan, which Fleeger helped found, started out as a small operation compared to the success that it has become. The early Palm Beach Tan only had six locations. Today it is one of the country's largest indoor tanning booth chains. Mystic Tan has also been a tremendous success. The company has taken over the spray-on tanning booth system industry. Today it is the largest provider in the entire world. The companies have a combined revenue approaching $100 million.

Given the growing importance of this industry and Fleeger's other successes, it seems likely that Gulf Coast Western will thrive under his leadership.
